Led two year initiative that culminated in Beijing first centrally approved foreign-invested  convenience store operation in China; to open 350 stores in Guangdong province in four years.  Let the initiative to find a qualified partner and the nine month approval requirement with various governmental agencies.
Directed profit turnaround of Wellcome Taiwan (112 stores); a 22% increase in sales over 2 years and a US$8m EBIT improvement.  

Hong Kong
Wellcome (252 stores) –Refurbished 100 and opened 70 new stores.  Relentless cost control, improved margins through mix management, expanded fresh, neutralized competitive pricing and invested in the intellectual capital to build organizational capability.

Mannings (180 stores)
Led the strategic repositioning as a health and beauty format.  Remodeled 90 and opened 60 new stores; increased sales of 12% p.a. and improved EBIT at a rate of 18%p.a.

7-Eleven (446 stores)
Increased sales by 6% p.a. compounded growth and EBIT by 6% p.a.; store numbers increased by 30%.  Initiated development of upgraded format, range and innovative services to appeal to younger customers.

Shared Services Platform (Outsourcing)
Led the creation of OneResource Group, a joint venture with Cap Gemini to support Hong Kong businesses that resulted in recurring annual savings of US$15 million, 20% reduction in total overhead cost and a 40% reduction in finance and accounting costs.

Australia
Developed a plan to create a virtual chain---unique hybrid of corporate and independent stores that participate under a single banner; that enables the business to leverage the favorable elements of both retail and distribution.

United States
HEB Grocery Company( member of Managing Board; purpose to determine strategic direction)

Led an integrated category management process and implementation of efficient replenishment; provided  65% growth in net revenue from supplier trade promotion investments.  Total inventory turns had improved from 10.0 turns in 1990 to 13.2 turns in 1995, contributing US$108 million to cash flow.  FIFO inventory grew at a compounded rate of 1% versus compound sales growth of 7%.
