Jim Wisner

James H. (Jim) Wisner has spent over 30 years in the food, drug, and general merchandise industry in key management positions at several leading companies:

    1. Vice-president of Marketing and Merchandising for a division of Jewel Companies, Inc.
    2. Regional VP and General Manager for Shaw's Supermarkets in New England (division of J. Sainsbury, plc).  At Shaw’s, Jim was later responsible for the strategic planning and development of the Shaw’s Private Label program.
    3. Vice-President of Topco Associates, the $5 billion private label procurement and marketing cooperative, where he was responsible at various times for Dairy-Deli-Bakery, Marketing, Grocery, and the General Merchandise/Pharmacy/Health and Beauty Care programs, among others. Topco manages the private label development and procurement programs for approximately 40 U.S. retailers.
    4. Vice President of Willard Bishop Consulting before starting the Wisner Marketing Group in 1999.

Jim is the principal author of several landmark industry-wide research and education programs developed for The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and General Merchandise Distributor’s Council (GMDC), including Merchandising for Success, Women's Well-Being Merchandising Strategies, and Multicultural Marketing. Jim is also developing a Private Label Marketing and Education Pavilion for this year’s FMI Show.  He is widely recognized as an industry thought leader in developing innovative new approaches for addressing key strategic issues.

Jim received a BBA degree in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He has also held a visiting faculty position at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy.
